Dear Students, Parents and Guardians, Community Members, and School Staff,
I am writing to inform you of a calendar adjustment for the Richmond School Department. Friday, March 13, 2026, which was previously scheduled as a district workshop day, will now be an early release day for students.
This change was approved by the Richmond School Committee at its meeting on February 12, 2026. The purpose of this adjustment is to provide flexibility in the school calendar should we experience additional school cancellations due to winter weather.
At this time, the last scheduled student day is June 17, 2026. By converting March 13 to an early release day, the last student day will move to June 16, 2026. This adjustment allows the district to absorb up to two future weather-related cancellations without extending the school year into the week of June 22, 2026.
We recognize that changes to the school calendar can impact families and staff, and we appreciate your understanding as we plan proactively to minimize the possibility of extending the school year later into June.
