Marcia Buker Elementary School students braved the cold and embraced the challenge of the WinterKids Winter Games, an annual event that encourages kids to stay active and learn about health, nutrition, and winter sports. While the Bobcats didn’t take home first place, they gained valuable knowledge and had a blast along the way.
Throughout the competition, students participated in a variety of activities that blended movement with learning. They explored the science of snow, practiced teamwork in winter sports challenges, and discovered the importance of healthy eating to fuel their adventures. From snowshoe races to outdoor scavenger hunts, the students combined physical activity with hands-on lessons, making for an unforgettable experience. The students learned about perseverance, teamwork, and the joy of staying active—even in the middle of winter!
The WinterKids Winter Games were not just about competition—they were about building lifelong healthy habits and a love for Maine’s winter season. MBES students are already looking forward to next year’s challenge, ready to learn, play, and grow even more.
