Dear Marcia Buker Parents and Guardians,
All I can say is, Wow! We have had a great few weeks bringing this year to a close! I'll let the Bobcat Sightings video below show you all the celebrations and fun we've had leading up to the final three days of the 2025-26 school year.
We have already said goodbye to our PreK and Kindergarten students, and we wish them a great summer.
Parents and guardians of grades 1-5 students, please be reminded that Wednesday is the last student day. It is an Early Release Day with student pick-up at 11:30.
Tuesday will feature our final field trip with second grade headed to The Maine Wildlife Park, and our 5th grade promotion celebration. The 5th grade will have a final social celebration "bash" on Wednesday morning.
And now, it is with great pleasure and more than a few tears that I am sending this last Bobcat Beat of my five years at Marcia Buker. I sign off with deep gratitude for the opportunity to work within this strong school community, to work alongside an outstanding team, and to work in service to every child that I've had the joy of knowing. I could not have planned or asked for a more perfect ending to my long career.

Our Team
The Marcia Buker Team wishes Title I Ed Tech III, Tymbre Dore, a well-deserved happy retirement. Tymbre has spent decades helping students become better readers and mathematicians through skillful interventions. By building strong relationships with her students and employing individualized lessons, Tymbre was able to break through barriers to literacy and numeracy for countless young learners. Tymbre has also been a valued, beloved colleague and friend to many. She will be missed (but she promises she will be back to volunteer)!
Into the position Tymbre is leaving, we welcome Tammy Houdlette, long-time Special Education Ed Tech III. Though her special eduction team will miss Tammy, she will be right down the hall, and the staff is grateful that Mrs. Houdlette will be able to bring her intervention skills and talents to the Title I reading and math program.
We are also saying goodbye to Occupational Therapist, Kerstin Rennel, who has been given a once-in-a-lifetime offer to continue her practice with an organization who saw her talent and invited her to join their team. We are not surprised. We wish you well, Kerstin!
Our other OT, Elsie Winokurze, is also moving on. You may know Elsie as the owner of Morning Moose Coffee, which is growing into a thriving business. Thank you for your excellent service, Elsie. (We will definitely see you around!)
New Principal, Allison Woodard will officially join Richmond School Department in July. She is excited to begin!
It It Takes a Village
We are extremely grateful to our PTG officers and all of the parents and community members who supported fund raisers through donations of time, materials, and money for the final events of the year.
A special thanks goes out to Kate Lavallee for her many years of leading the PTG. Kate has always brought joy to the role and a desire to go far beyond fund raising to make the Marcia Buker staff and students feel supported and appreciated and to bring positive PR to our school.
