Hello Families!
Mother’s Day weekend has to be one of the busiest of the year. With moms to honor and remember, college graduations, and proms, this time of year brings celebrations of loved ones and milestones to nearly every household. I hope you enjoyed your family’s weekend!
This week at school feels a little quiet so far (knock on wood!) compared to the weekend and last week, which were full of Staff Appreciation activities, the grade 2–3 concert, and Day of Caring events.
On Tuesday, our grade 3, 4, and 5 students began their spring state assessments in reading, math, and science (grade 5 only). Testing will wrap up on the 15th for most classes. If you are a parent or relative of one of these students, please encourage your child to do their very best and share their experiences with you. The tests can feel overwhelming and are not always as entertaining as the fast-paced video games or outdoor activities many students are used to. It takes a lot of stamina to meet growth targets, and your interest and encouragement can make a world of difference!
We also have the Bikes for Books assembly on Thursday this week. Any student in grades K–5 who met the reading criteria set by teachers will be entered into the drawing for a bike. The Masons reward one girl and one boy from each grade with a bike!
Next week features our K–1 spring concert, and after that, all the spring happenings come at a rapid pace!
As we head into these final busy weeks of the school year, thank you for all you do to support your children and our school community. There is so much to celebrate this time of year, and we are grateful to share these moments with our students and their families.
Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week!

It Takes a Village
Bike for Books:
Thanks to Masonic Village Lodge 26 for their very generous gift of reading and outdoor activity each year.
The Masonic Charitable Foundation' philosophy reads "It’s essential to establish a love for reading early in life. Towards that end, Masons in Maine are happy to bring the Masonic Bikes for Books program to students throughout Maine’s Elementary and Middle schools. The objectives of the program are threefold:
• to increase student reading and comprehension skills
• to recognize positive student achievements
• to provide an attainable goal, with life enhancing resultsWe are looking forward to welcoming the Masons this Thursday for the assembly!

Our Flagpole Garden Keepers
We have Peter and Cora Gardner to thank for the seasonal plantings that beautify our flagpole garden. The new mulch and delicate flowers that appeared this week are a warm welcome to all.
