Dandelions

Greetings Families!

I hope this finds you enjoying the warm spring days and the welcome rain! We are grateful that the sun returned to school with our students. They are working hard at learning; although, the anticipation of summertime is definitely in the air!

It's hard to believe we have reached the month of May; this year has flown by! As we turn the calendar page, we begin the end-of-year activities! It's a fast-paced and exciting time at school and (I'm sure) at home! Please be sure to check the dates below so you won't miss anything happening at Marcia Buker!

RehearsalFirst up next week is the grade 2 and 3 concert on Monday (school) and Tuesday (families). The students have been doing a great job rehearsing with Mrs. Shively and their teachers, and we are looking forward to the performance!

Next week, we show our appreciation to the teachers, nurse, and Ed Techs. Students and their teachers will also show appreciation for their school community sometime during the next two weeks to commemorate Day of Caring on May 8th. I encourage families to help your child see the importance of thanking those whose life work is educating them, and of caring for their community.

Thank you! Have a great weekend!

Reminders

Proper Attire: With the warmer days, students are excited to switch out the snow gear for warm weather attire. Our kids play physically and are frequently learning outdoors. Please help your child follow the expectations for warm weather attire:

  • Wear sneakers, shoes, or boots with closed heels or heel straps at school.

  • Wear clean clothing that covers from the torso (chest, abdomen, pelvis, and back) to mid-thigh.

  • Tops should have attached sleeves or over-the-shoulder straps.

Ticks are one the move: Nurse Ashley reminds parents and guardians to check your children for ticks frequently. Although we have not yet seen a lot of tick activity at school, we expect to in the coming weeks.

New Benches for the Outdoor Classroom: Thanks Bruce Carver!

We would like to thank Mr. Bruce Carver for donating his time and talents in building eight new benches for our outdoor classroom. We are grateful for the generosity that has greatly improved our outdoor learning space. We now have safe, sturdy, and beautiful seats for all MBES teachers and students to use!
