Hello Families!
I hope you had a nice Easter weekend. We are having a great week at school, with the weather feeling more and more springlike!
Most exciting is that the 4th grade is in full rehearsal mode, preparing for their musical next week.
On Monday, all K–5 students in the school will be in the "courtroom" for The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf. To support the performers on Monday, all students are invited to wear something representing a favorite fairytale or fable character. On Tuesday, family members are invited to the musical. Education in the performing arts brings out the very best in students. We are grateful to Music Teacher Amanda Shively, Art Teacher Chris Milliken, Student Art Teacher Alyssa Letendre, Piano Accompanist Christina Roa, and the grade 4 teachers, Mrs. Maloney and Mr. Libby, for giving everything extra they have to give our students this excellent experience and produce an excellent show!
As we start the countdown to April vacation, please be sure to check all the dates and notices below so you won’t miss anything!
Speaking of countdowns, as most of you know, in just over two months, at the end of June, I will be retiring.
I will always be deeply grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to be part of this school community. Marcia Buker is a truly special place with an exceptional staff. During the five years I have been principal, we have made meaningful improvements to our programming and curriculum. Most important, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to the success and well-being of every student. A big part of what makes this work so meaningful is that the Richmond community, often led by our PTG, supports and treasures their school.
This afternoon, the staff and I met the new principal whom Superintendent Kempton will be nominating to the School Committee tonight. I very much enjoyed the short time I spent with her, and I am confident that the Marcia Buker team and school community will have a bright future. x
I am excited to begin a new chapter in my life; while at the same time, it’s hard to imagine not being part of this school each day. I will miss this community very much. Thank you for your support and your partnership.
Yours for a little while longer,
Principal Bobcat
