students with flashlights

Top o' The Day Marcia Buker Families!

March is always a time of transition. We move out of the dark, cold days of winter, and a new energy can be felt at school. In the classroom, our students continue to build on the skills they’ve developed throughout the year, deepening their understanding and strengthening  foundations.

The Marcia Buker teachers and I would like to thank all who could make it out for parent-conferences on Thursday to show your interest in your child's learning.  As always, we had a great turnout, with nearly 75% of our students represented by parents and guardians.

The coming school week features the Chewonki Foundation visit on Thursday and Friday. Each grade has a unique, interactive learning experience that includes information and Q and A about wild animals and their natural habitats as well as opportunities to meet live animals and hear their stories! In the classroom, many teachers have planned aligned lessons and assignments to create a fun and memorable integrated study. The Chewonki program is just one of many high quality learning experiences made possible by our Parent Teacher Group. Thank you PTG!

PTG

Thanks to the PTG for the wonderful Olive Garden meal provided to teachers on conference night. Teachers begin the evening right after school and meet with parents until 7:30 PM. Having a ready-made delicious meal to quickly enjoy between sessions made the the staff feel so appreciated (and energized!)

Family Reading Night

Family Reading NightFRN organizer, Jen Merrill would like to personally thank Library Ed Tech Deb Burk for her many contributions of time and energy to the event. Mrs. Merrill says Deb was “instrumental in the success of the day and evening. She got the grant to pay Wendy Ulmer, she scheduled Wendy's day with all the classes, and she stayed through the evening to make Wendy feel comfortable. She also sorted through boxes and boxes to curate and organize the free books for the evening. She did a lot behind the scenes to make it a great day and evening. Thanks, Deb!"
