Hello Families!
A few hours ago, we released some very excited students. I'm so glad the rain has stopped in time for Halloween night! I'm also so glad it's Friday!
We have had a great October at school. The whole-school highlights were spirit week, Unity Day celebrations, Family Math Night, and the Northern Star Planetarium. I've been so impressed with our students' conduct during these activities. In fact our planetarium guide, Mr. Meader, told me, "The students in this school are excellent. This is an enjoyable school to visit, and I visit lots of schools. "Thanks to all the families who could join us for Family Math Night and show your children that math is both important and fun. If you want to continue the math focus at home, or you missed the math night, check out this Make-It-Math-Family-Activity-Toolkit.pdf for easy and fun ideas to support numeracy in your home! As I read through these examples, I can think of many ways to adapt the activities to Halloween (counting, sorting, finding patterns, timing tooth brushing...)
However you spend this evening, I wish you lots of fun on Halloween Night!

Speaking of Halloween, parents are reminded that our dental clinic is on December 1 for kids who are signed up. Two forms were sent home a couple of weeks ago, one describing basic, free dental care, and the other more involved care that can happen right here at school. If you need new forms sent home, please call the school, and we will be happy to send one. We must have a minimum number of students signed up in order to run the clinic.

Weekend Supplemental Food Back Pack Program: We continue to partner with MidCoast Hunger to provide families with extra food for the weekends. We know that difficulty affording food is a growing problem for many families for a few reasons. We would like to remind you that any child is eligible to bring home a bag of food each week. To get on the list, is call Kerry Gardner at the school -- (207) 737- 4748.
Thanks PTG...
...for the new coffee and tea station! It really means a lot, and it's beautiful!
